Simultaneous presentation of acute myocardial infarction and acute promyelocytic leukemia.

In 2002, a 41-year-old Chinese man was admitted to the emergency department of our hospital because of severe chest pain which had started a few hours earlier. He had complained of severe chest pain 2 days earlier, with sudden onset at rest and spontaneous regression after 1 h. His prior medical history was unremarkable, with no history of hypertension, diabetes, smoking, or alcohol. On admission he was suffering from chest pain, was diaphoretic, and was short of breath. His blood pressure was 120/70 mmHg, with a pulse rate of 96. Heart sounds were regular without murmurs or gallops. No apparent bruise was evident.
