Peripheral Mineral Collectibles

It is probably well known among most Mineral News readers that I like to collect (i.e. accumulate) just about anything related to mining or minerals, and I have written about such things many times in the past. While recently browsing among assorted un-curated items, I came across a small lot of Australian First Day Covers (FDCs) with a gold mining motif. For those who are unfamiliar with stamp collecting, FDCs are envelopes or postcards that have been postmarked by the country's post office on the first day that a stamp has been issued. Virtually all countries that have an active postal administration offer FDC servicing, and many stamp and "cover" collectors pursue such items.
