The 1998 Rediscovery of Pollucite in the Himalaya Mine Mesa Grande, San Diego County, California

During the summer 1998, William Larson, the Himalaya mine owner, had agreed to allow Jeffrey E. Patterson to execute a ground-penetrating radar survey within the tunnels of the Himalaya mine to try to predict un-opened elbaite pockets that might be just hidden behind the stope faces. This work, sometimes assisted by Jim Means, was being done for Patterson's Ph.D. research at the University of Calgary, Canada (Patterson and Cook 2002).
