Working models of psychotherapy across different orientations-Sketch of comparative conceptual psychotherapy research

In contemporary psychotherapy research conceptual competence is increasingly being mentioned. It is an important component of therapeutic skills in the various treatment procedures; however, so far there is a lack of possibilities to sufficiently describe and assess conceptual competence and thus systematically include it in the clinical practice, research and training. This article provides a positioning of conceptual competence in the field of current research of effective factors. Based on this the notion of working models of psychotherapy is taken up and further developed as a means of operationalizing conceptual skills in comparative conceptual psychotherapy research. The working models of psychotherapy is a research protocol to present working models as a method to provide psychotherapy research with sound measures for conceptual skills in therapeutic work. A clinical example is used to show future tasks and options for comparative conceptual research in psychotherapy.
