Resolution of chronic urticaria coincident with vitamin D supplementation

Recent studies have suggested that vitamin D may play a role in the balance of the innate and adaptive immune systems and may contribute to the pathogenesis of chronic urticaria (CU), atopic dermatitis, and other allergic diseases. We present a patient with longstanding CU in the setting of vitamin D deficiency, whose symptoms markedly improved after adequate vitamin D supplementation.
