摘要

The convective and orographically induced precipitation study had the aim to advance the quality of forecasts of orographically induced convective precipitation in complex terrain. The COPS observations, measured at different locations in the Black Forest and Vosges Mountains by a variety of instruments, give information of the boundary layer characteristics and convective initiation. The COPS data set is used for the validation of high-resolution convective-scale NWP simulations of the COSMO-DE model. Comparisons with radar, lidar, radiosonde and surface meteorological observations are performed to study the accuracy of the model in simulating the convective boundary layer.
