With weather conditions improving and restrictions on the application of chemical fertilizer in south and central Ireland lifted, there has been some application. This has taken place largely on grassland in drier areas. Whilst volumes spread are modest overall, there has been some application of urea and high N compounds in certain places. Furthermore, with prices strengthening, farmers are also encouraged to come to the market to cover part of their needs as they face the risk of paying higher prices later. Those with cash to spare are said to be seeing good deals but generally these offers have disappeared and prices are moving up.
