This regular feature aims to provide key political news in relation to oral health and an update of the Faculty's policy activities. You can find out more in the Government Relations and Media Centre sections of the FDS website. Health and care white paper promises action on water fluoridation and junk food advertising. The government published a major white paper in February, which set out a broad range of measures that it plans to include in a forthcoming health and care bill.As well as providing the legislative basis for establishing integrated care systems across England,the bill will also feature a number of specific provisions relating to public health. Notably, these include proposals to grant the health secretary new powers around water fluoridation, which will streamline the process for introducing such schemes. The government also plans to use the bill to introduce new restrictions on junk food advertising, something the Faculty has been strongly supportive of for a number of years.
