Acute generalized exanthematic pustulosis due to ibuprofen

Ibuprofen is a widely known analgesic that in Spain does not need a doctor's prescription, so it is actively used as treatment of every kind of pain.Acute generalized exanthematic pustulosis (AGEP) is a rare but well-recognized condition that is usually drug induced, and antibiotics are the most commonly implicated, although non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs also may trigger it.We present a case of a 47-year-old man who needed urgent assistance at our hospital because of an acute outbreak of multiple pustular lesions and underlying erythema on the neck, with pain and itch. He presented no fever or inflammation, and he had no history of herpes zoster or other illnesses, although he had taken a single dose of ibuprofen 600 mg orally because of foot-ache.
