摘要

Isaac Plains complex is a Stanmore's flagship mining hub that consist of two operating mine and three potential projects. The complex predominantly produces semi-soft coking and thermal coal for the export market. Currently operating domains Isaac Plains and Isaac Plains east extract coal using the dragline operation supplemented by truck and shovel. Previous owner Vale placed the mine on care and maintenance in 2014 due to increasing costs associated with a high strip ratio. Stanmore Coal recommenced production in May 2016. Stanmore plans to cease Isaac Plains operation during the 2019 financial year, with the dragline planned to move to the Isaac Plains East mining area. The progression of mining operations from Isaac Plains to Isaac Plains East has seen average strip ratio decrease from 15:1 to approximately 12:1, reducing the operating cost base. Isaac Plains East is expected to produce up to 1.2Mtpa of improved quality coal over seven years period. The intended development of Isaac Downs project is expected to further reduce the cost of the complex with lower strip ratio of 8:1. With an improved global market, AME expects Isaac Plains to be cash margin positive in 2021 and remain economically viable going forward.
