At some time in the,hopefully,not-too-distant future, the Covid-19 virus will have released its grip from the lives of far too many millions of people around the globe. At that stage, the spotlight will be on lessons learnt from the global pandemic and how we all-from in-dividuals to national gov-ernments-can be better prepared should another deadly virus emerge somewhere in the world. This will include studying every aspect of industry and how each manufacturing,supply-chain and marketing activity might be adapted to enhance its contribution to global wellbeing-and minimise any potential contribution to a contagion.Within the rubber industry, for instance, focus topics might well range from ensuring supply of materials and products used in protective wear and medical devices to reducing the level of human-interaction required by manufacturing organisations.
