Genetically Modified Organisms (GMOs) in Switzerland

The question of safety of genetic engineering, also in connection with food production, has moved the Swiss minds and the Swiss legislator since the technology was invented. Humans and their environment are protected from the misuse of genetic engineering. This mandate from article 120 of the Swiss Federal Constitution is further implemented by the Federal Act on Non-Human Gene Technology (GTG, SR 814.911) and several Ordinances.
