A New Genus of the Thysanoptera (Thripidae) in the Fauna of Siberia

Theilopedothrips zur Strassen, 1995 with the single species Theilopedothrips pilosus (Uzel, 1895) is recorded for the first time for Siberia from Central Yakutia.At present, 47 species of the three families Aeolothripidae, Thripidae, and Phlaeothripidae are known in the thrips fauna of Central Yakutia (Evdo-karova and Velikan, 2011; Evdokarova and Doricova, 2013, 2015; Shmakov and Evdokarova, 2013). Thripidae isthe most species-rich family in the fauna; it comprises 19 genera and 38 species. As the result of our investigations in Central Yakutia, the genus Theilopedothrips zur Strassen belonging to this family was recorded for Siberia for the first time. In the European part of Russia, a representative of this genus was collected earlier from Kursk Province and presented under the name Taeniothrips pilosus Uzel, 1895 (Schliephake, 1977). This genus and species rare in the Russian fauna are described below.
