Russia Eyes Iran Oil,Cash Flows

Russia would like to make a quantum leap in relations with Iran.To pull it off,Moscow is throwing its diplomatic weight behind a renewal of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action,the nuclear deal the US exited in 2018,and will certainly support Iran within Opec-plus,where Iran is a member without a quota and susceptible to criticism from Saudi Arabia(p3).It is also spearheading a massive project to build a rail corridor linking St.Petersburg with southern Iran.In addition,Russian firms have their hands in large infrastructure projects-from planned new nuclear power plants to the $2 billion,1,100 kilometer Goreh-Jask oil pipeline and export terminal that Iran is launching(EC Jan.15'21).
