Brazil’s cumulative iron ore exports from January to August were up 3.0% year on year to 249Mt. In August,Brazilian iron ore exports reached 34.1Mt, up 9.0% month on month. Non-agglomerated iron ore exportsaccounted for 31.6.1Mt, while agglomerated iron ore exports accounted for 2.5Mt. Agglomerated iron ore exportsreached 19.8Mt in the year to August, about the same as the previous year but its annualised rate is stillconsiderably lower than the 51Mt exported in 2015 prior to suspension of operations at Samarco. The shortage ofpellets lifted the 2017 BF Pellet premiums by around 40% and DR Pellet premiums by around 30% compared to2015.
