COST ANALYSIS OF A MASTER SLAVE SYSTEM HAVING THREE TYPESOF NON-IDENTICAL UNITS

This paper deals with the cost analysis of a master slave system having three types of non - identical units which have one master, one slave unit of type I and two identical slave units of type II arranged in parallel configuration. Initially all theunits are operating. Whenever master unit fails, system fails completely after a random time but if slave units of type II fail, it operates partially. Further, if slave unit of type I foils, system is shutdown but remains in operation mode due to operation of the main unit. The failure and repair time distribution of all the operating units are assumed to be negative exponential. There is a single repair facility, which repairs the unit on first come first served basis but priority in repair is givento master unit. Various reliability characteristics are obtained in order to analyze the expected profit earned by the system.
