LME: “No low carbon contract”

LME CEO Matthew Chamberlain in discussion with our contributing editor, Katharina Otzen-Odrich, about demands in the aluminium industry for an LME trading platform for ‘green’ (low carbon) aluminium, and the LME plan to launch a spot trading platform for price discovery and trading of low carbon aluminium for interested buyers and sellers on a voluntary basis. IAJ: Mr Chamberlain, there is quite some confusion about a new trading platform for green aluminium from next year on. At least Lord Barker of Battle, the chairman of EN+ to which the aluminium giant Rusal belongs, claims, that Rusal’s green aluminium will be traded there.
