Designing cells for the future – Wider and/or even higher amperage?

The current approach of increasing amperagesimply by making cells longer hasintroduced operational problems. However,using copper collector bar technologyopens the door to a new cathodedesign that extracts 100% of the currentdirectly on the downstream side. Itmeans we can design a wider cell withoutgenerating harmful horizontal current inthe metal pad or increasing the cathodevoltage drop. This article explores thealternative design here and reveals how itoffers spectacular benefits while minimizingpractical operating issues.
