Broad industry coalition warns USTR to avoid Section 301 tariffs on Vietnam

More than 70 business groups and industry associations from nearly every sector are calling on the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative not to impose tariffs stemming from Section 301 investigations on Vietnam's timber and currency practices. In a letter to USTR Katherine Tai on Wednesday, a broad coalition of business groups, including the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and the National Foreign Trade Council, were joined by industry groups like the National Retail Federation and the Telecommunications Industry Association in contending the imposition of tariffs on goods from Vietnam - which they suggest could be imminent - would undermine American businesses' competitiveness and result in retaliatory tariffs on American exports.
