Utilization of Livestock Waste to Enhance Farmers' Wealth

India is an agrarian country whose nearly 65% population depend on agriculture and the allied sector for their livelihood. Agriculture includes culdvadon of crops for feed and fodder production for humans and animals. Animal husbandry practices include livestock and poultry and other allied sectors including apiculture (beekeeping), pisciculture (fish farming), etc. However, these agricultural practices lead to production of a large amount of wastes. Currently, our country is producing 1500 lakh tons/year of agricultural waste, which includes residues after harvesting crops and plants, dung and urine produced by livestock and poultry birds, etc. Efficient utilization of this neglected waste can provide a huge amount of income to farmers, leading toan increase in their wealth, helping them double their income and wealth of the nation.
