During January 2017 production of fertiliser nutrient N went down, while production of P2O5 moved up over January 2016. Production of nutrient N at 1.116 million metric tonnes (MMT) during January 2017 registered decline of 5.4% over January 2016. However, production of P2O5 at 0.406 MMT during January 2017 increased by 6.1% over January 2016. Among the major fertilisers, production of urea and NP/NPK complex fertilisers declined by 6.3% and 3.1%, respectively, during the period. However, the production of DAP increased by 13.3% during the same period. Production of N and P2O5 fell short from the target by 108.6 thousand tonnes and 13.9 thousand tonnes, respectively, during January 2017. Capacity utilisation of N went down from 104.3% during January 2016 to 98.5% in January 2017. In case of P2O5, it improved from 67.1% to 69.7% during the same period.
