Asahimas to increase float glass capacity

PT Asahimas, the leading float glass producer from Indonesia is increasing the capacity of float glass production at one of its manufacturing bases in the country. The company is investing approximately 19 billion yen to relocate a float furnace and mirror manufacturing facility from the Jakarta Plant to the Cikampek plant of PT Asahimas Rat Glass. The new float furnace is for manufacturing of architectural glass and mass production is scheduled to commence in the first quarter of 2019. With an installed capacity of 220,000 tons per annum, the new float furnace and mirror manufacturing facility will increase Asahimas's production capacity by 40% and 30% respectively. Construction of this furnace started in late 2017, and is expected to finish by the first quarter of 2019.
