Tanzania aims to start construction of a 10mn t/yr LNG export plant in the country’s southeastern Lindi region in July 2023, a year later than previous expectations, energy minister Medard Kalemani says. The country is stepping up its eforts to join the league of gas producers and reap the increasing gas prices in the world market, Kalemani says. The construc- tion of the $30bn, two-train onshore facility is expected to take fve years, which would still put it on track to begin exports by 2028.
