Inspections for Varandey shuttle tankers

Russian state-owned shipping company Sovcomflot’s three Arctic shuttle tankers deployed to transport Lukoil’s Varandey Blend crude will be sent for inspection in Europe this year and in 2018. The Arc 6 ice-class Vasily Dinkov, built in 2008, will undergo inspection this autumn, to be followed next year by two other vessels of the same class built in 2009, the Kapitan Gotsky and the Timofey Guzhenko. The inspection process takes a month, with the round trip to the inspection port and back expected to take two weeks. Classification inspections ensure compliance with Russian Maritime Register of Shipping standards.
