ExxonMobil requests gas-to-power licence

ExxonMobil is seeking an environmental permit in Guyana for a gas-to-power project that could result in a massive reduction in domestic electricity tariffs. Up to 50mn ft~3/d (517mn m~3/yr) of natural gas from the deepwater Stabroek block will be available to feed the government’s planned 300MW facility, the company says. The project involves construction of an offshore and onshore pipeline, a potential module offloading facility and gas processing infrastructure. The gas-to-power project will cost $500mn-800mn, the government has said.
