Swiss premium pellet prices continue rise in January

Switzerland’s premium retail wood pellet price rose for a sixth consecutive month in January in response to an increase in heating demand, but prices remained lower year on year, data from the Swiss Federal Statistical Office show. The average price of premium-grade wood pellets rose by 0.4pc or 1.30 Swiss francs/t ($1.45/t) on the month to SFr353.42/t in January. But prices were down by 3.3pc on the year and 4.8pc lower than the five-year January average as the market continues to recover from low demand as a result of mild winters in 2018-19 and 2019-20.
