US oil,tech firms collaborate on Beccs project

US oil company Chevron will collaborate with oil services firm Schlumberger and tech giant Microsoft to develop a bioenergy with carbon capture and sequestration(Beccs)plant project in Mendota,California.The Beccs plant will”convert agricultural waste biomass,such as almond trees,into a renewable synthesis gas that will be mixed with oxygen in a combustor to generate electricity”,Chevron said.The project is expected to remove 300,000 t/yr of CO2 and to use 200,000 t/yr of agricultural biomass once operational.
