European wood chips: Spot steady

The price for industrial European wood chips delivered to northwest Europe (NWE) in the next 90 days was assessed fat on the week at €6/GJ. Heating demand remained strong in the week, but spot supply was plentiful. There was an increase in wood chip deliveries to Scandinavian heat producers in the week, but the lift in demand was not enough to outweigh the level of oversupply on the market, a market participant said. But if colder weather that is forecast for February materialises the market may fnd some balance before Europe’s heating season is over, a participant said.
