South Korea drives strong August NE Asian demand

Northeast Asia's wood pellet imports grew by more than 20pc month on month in August, on the back of stronger South Korean demand. Japan and South Korea imported a combined 318,622t of wood pellets last month, up from 265,272t in July and almost double the 159,4711 imported in August 2016. South Korea's August imports reached a new monthly record of 284,216t, up by 27pc from July and 85pc higher year on year. Vietnamese wood pellets dominated South Korea's imports last month, at 54pc of the pellets received.
