The author of the book has studied human medicine as well as biology with a specialization in anthropology and is a professor of anatomy. Based on original papers and monographs, he has become familiar with dental facts and problems and has been associated with dentistry for decades. After the book was published in November 2018, the author was appointed a member of the working group "Oral Health" at the Institute for Medical and Pharmaceutical Examination Questions (IMPP) in Mainz and in the further development of the National Competence-Oriented Learning Goals Catalogue for Medicine (NKLM) in Berlin.
