DR Congo launching 2021 round

The Democratic Republic of Congo is plan-ning to offer 19 onshore blocks in the fourth quarter of this year in its frst licensing round since the country adopted a new petroleum law in 2015. Nine of the blocks are located in the coun-try’s Central Basin, three in the onshore Coastal Basin, four in the Lake Tanganyika Basin and three in Lake Kivu. “We are putting together the data for these blocks which have proven to be lucrative af-ter major fnds in neighbouring exploration areas,” Rubens Muhima, the minister for en-ergy and hydrocarbons told Platts.
