New Age extends S Africa block neighbouring Total's giants

New Age Energy has extended its licence over a block off South Africa neighbouring Total's highly successful acreage where it says it had "concrete" partner interest a few months ago. The Chinese owned company originally took the Algoa Gamtoos block in 2007 and has already shot both 2D and 3D seismic. The licence consists of three basins, Algoa to the east, Gamtoos to the west and the Outeniqua deepwater basin. The latter is where Total made the Brulpadda and Luiperd finds in Block 11B/12B which neighbours New Age to the west.
