Mobil Nigeria tendering uncertainty amidst fraud investigation

There is an air of uncertainty over past and present ExxonMo-bil tendering in Nigeria after a federal court in Abuja signed off on a warrant to arrest the company’s local head to compel him to appear before anti-graft investigators. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) sought the warrant after Richard Laing, the managing director of ExxonMobil Nigeria, rejected three invitations to appear be-fore investigators probing alleged procurement fraud involving the Major Integrity Projects (MIPS) which was under a very different management team. An EFCC spokesman said that the investigation is into the company rather than Laing himself and that it has not charged Exxon or others with wrongdoing.
