S Africa and Mozambique pre-empt pipeline deal

State-owned energy companies from South Africa and Mozam- bique have used their pre-emptive rights to buy the stake Sasol is selling in the strategically important Rompco gas pipeline running between the pair for around US $360m. Sasol held a 50% interest in the pipeline which runs 865km from the Pande and Temane gas felds in Mozambique down to customers in South Africa. In May it agreed to sell 30% to a consortium of black owned industrial investment group Reatile Proprietary and the IDEAS Fund which is managed by African Infrastructure Investment Managers.
