Mauritanian Chinguetti FPSO heads to its grave

BW Offshore’s Berge Helene FPSO that only ever worked on the ill-fated Chinguetti field off Mauritania has been sold for US $16m for recycling. The vessel was originally speculatively converted as part of a plan for cheaper generic FPSOs and it won the job with Petronas on Chinguetti. First oil came in early 2006 and production problems began on the field almost immediately.
