Acquisition hungry Afentra emerges from Sterling

Tullow Oil’s former chief executive is rebranding Sterling Energy as a new Africa focused venture joining the list of those hoping to make money in the short to medium term as majors sell off oil and gas assets. Paul McDade took over as boss at Sterling two months ago (see AOG 18 March). He left Tullow under a cloud in late 2019 as the company faced a very uncertain future with a precarious balance sheet and production and reserves problems.
