Tullow takes long-term rig as Ghana output slumps

Tullow Oil has conditionally awarded Maersk a four-year drill-ing contract at its two fagship felds off Ghana to try and coun-teract a slump in production. The company had been hoping to approve an award for the Jubilee Southeast project by now and to have contracted at least one rig to work off Ghana permanently in the years ahead to maintain production at the Jubilee and TEN felds. It has now handed long-term partner Maersk Drilling a US $370m conditional letter of award for the drillship Maersk Ven-turer for four years of development drilling campaign at the two felds. Operations will be supported by local partner Rig-world with work to start at Jubilee next quarter. Technip FMC has been tipped for the subsea.
