Karpowership in talks for Africa double with LNG conversions

Karpowership is in talks to bring two more foating power plants off West Africa this year while also converting the ships to be supplied by LNG. The Turkish frm already has contracts with eight African coun-tries and is hoping to step in as electricity supply across the con-tinent is actually deteriorating. For the frst time since 2013, the number of those lacking power in the continent rose in 2020 - up 2% from 2019 according to the International Energy Agency. Karpower boss Zeynep Harezi told Bloomberg that the com-pany supplies nearly 1,400 MW to countries in Sub-Saharan Africa and is hoping to provide an additional 1,000 MW in the region this year.
