Total to resume Mozambique LNG next month with 25km secure area

Total wants to resume work at its US $20 Bn LNG plant in Mozambique at the end of this quarter and keep to its planned timetable of frst gas in 2024. The French frm was forced to suspend construction work and ask many staff to leave last month as attacks by Islamist militants came alarmingly close to the site itself. The move caused some analysts to speculate that the project could be delayed by up to a year and sparked fears that the plan for a fnal investment decision on ExxonMobil’s neighbour-ing project could be put back from the already delayed date of 2021.
