Waterfowl hunting in Argentina is aprofitable industry that attracts hunters from all over theworld. Most hunting occurs as high-end hunting tourism,through which registered outfitters service predominantlyforeign clients on private lands. Lead pollution fromhunting ammunition is increasingly recognized as asignificant local problem, impacting wildlife, aquatic andterrestrial habitats, and extending to vulnerable humanrural communities. Regulatory frameworks that restrictlead shot use are a budding success story but remainchallenged by their constrained geographic range andlimited compliance rooted in unavailable nontoxicammunition. Changes in hunting practices in Argentinaare long overdue.
