Preface

The Current Chromatography journal has passed the 5-year mark and moved to another stage of its development. A new group of young enthusiastic researchers joined Editorial Board which resulted in a more diversified content of the journal. The modern world of scientific publications in the area of well-established techniques such as chromatography has become more conservative with publication of less innovative works and routine investigations. For this reason, some authors find it difficult to publish very different opinions and unusual results. This is not the case of the Current Chromatography journal, which has always been receptive to new ideas, unusual effects observed by researchers and individual opinions of the authors. As an Editor-in-Chief of Current Chromatography I believe that this is an important way to new discoveries. The current volume of the journal includes papers of Dr. Zenkevich, who discovered unusual regularities in retention of amino acid derivatives in gas chromatography and of Dr. Hanai, who presented his vision on quantitative explanation of retention mechanism in reversed phase liquid chromatography. Three more papers from this issue are devoted to analysis of ageing of manuscripts written by ballpoint pens in tropical weather, analysis of pesticides in curry leaves, and comparison of chromatographic methods of detection of nitroaromatis.
