NKT completes Caithness-Moray 320kV turnkey project

Denmark's NKT has successfully completed the Caithness-Moray turnkey project which consists of a 320 kV high-voltage direct current (HVDC) XLPE off-and-onshore power cable system covering a total transmission length of 160 kilometres. The link has been in commercial operation since end-2018. NKT said that it used the NKT Victoria for the first time under this project to install the bundled HVDC power cables and fibre optics on the seabed. ABB HV Cable, which was taken over in September 2016 by NKT, won the contract in 2014.
