摘要

Objective: The objective of this study was to investigate the long-term functional outcome of laparoscopic posterior sutured rectopexy (LPSR) in comparision with laparoscopic ventral mesh rectopexy (LVMR) for full-thickness rectal prolapse. Background: A previous study analyzed the results one year after the surgery, but long-term functional results were not considered. Methods: They have been examined patients recruited in the previous randomized double-blind study who underwent LVMR and LPSR from December 2006 to January 2014. Three questionnaires were administered in the preoperative and one-year follow-up (Obstructed Defecatione Syndrome Score [ODS], Cleveland Clinic constipation score [CCCS], Cleveland Clinic fecal incontinence score [CCIS]). It has been sent two long-term follow-up questionnaires (Patients Assessment of Constipation Quality of Life [PAC-QOL], Patients Assessment of Constipation symptom score [PAC-SYM]). If the patients gave responses compatible with a relapse, they were invited to a specialist visit.
