US ARMY AWARDS FLRAA DEMONSTRATION AND RISK REDUCTION CONTRACTS

US Army contracts have been awarded to the two competitors in the Future Long Range Assault Aircraft (FLRAA) program for Competitive Demonstration and Risk Reduction (CD&RR) Phase 2. On March 30, US Army Contracting Command awarded $292.65 million to Bell Textron and $284.39 million to Sikorsky Aircraft. Bell is offering the V-280 Valor, while Sikorsky, in a joint bid with Boeing, is proposing the Defiant X. An initial $19.5 million was released to each contractor from US Army Fiscal Year 2021 research, development, test, and evaluation funds at the time of the award. Estimated completion for both contracts is May 30, 2022.
