STINGRAY REFUELS SUPER HORNET

BOEING AND the US Navy demonstrated the refueling capabilities of the MQ-25A Stingray unmanned aircraft on June 4. The demonstration was conducted with Boeing's company-owned T1 test asset, N234MQ, which used a US Navy Cobham Mission Systems 31-301 aerial refueling store (ARS) to transfer fuel to Air Test and Evaluation Squadron 23 (VX-23) 'Salty Dogs' F/A-18F BuNo 166969 'SD-123'. The two aircraft conducted a formation evaluation, wake survey and drogue tracking before contact with the Super Hornet was made. Prior to this sortie, T1 had carried out 25 flights that evaluated air vehicle and ARS aerodynamics across the Stingray's flight envelope. BoeiTheT1 MQ-25 will continue flight testing from MidAmerica Airport, Illinois, but will be shipped to Norfolk, Virginia, for deck handling trials aboard a US Navy aircraft carrier later this year.
