FAB TO CUT BACK ON KC-390 ORDERS

Brazil is to cut back its Embraer KC-390 Millennium order after the COVID-19 pandemic prompted cutbacks on resources allocated to the defense sector. The Forca Aerea Brasileira (FAB, Brazilian Air Force) said it was to review its KC-390 production contract with Embraer in a May 26 press release, adding that the expected number of aircraft (28) "has proved to be superior to the budgetary reality of the Force, both for acquisition and for logistical support over time". After budget analysis, the FAB will negotiate to amend the contract, reducing the number procured and cutting production to just two aircraft per year.
