F-15EX DELIVERED AND OFFICIALLY NAMED EAGLE II

The US Air Force's (USAF's) newest multi-role fighter and latest incarnation of the Boeing F-15 Eagle family, the F-15EX; will be formally known as the Eagle II in service. The official name was announced by Lt Gen Duke Richardson, the military deputy of the Office of the Assistant Secretary of the Air Force for Acquisition, Technology and Logistics, during an unveiling ceremony at Eglin Air Force Base in Florida on April 7. The event celebrated the historic delivery to the USAF of the first F-15EX, serial number 20-0001 'ET.' It had been formally handed over in St Louis on March 10 before being delivered to the Florida base the following day, becoming the first new F-15 to join the service in 17 years.
