Properties of Coal of Moderate Metamorphic Development

The physicochemical properties of Kuznetsk Basin coal are studied. The following distinctive features are confirmed for coal of moderate metamorphic development: minimum strength and gas-dynamic potential; and maximum risk of cracking and explosion, as well as maximum instability of the coal-methane system. For bed samples of different rank, we find that the petrographic characteristics of coal of metamorphic stages III-V include critical regions.
