The US EPA has granted the Texas Department of Agriculture an emergency exemption for a new disinfectant product that kills coronaviruses like the Sars-Cov-2 virus that causes Covid-19 on non-porous, non-food-contact surfaces for up to seven days. The exemption, issued on 24 August, will allow American Airlines to use the unregistered product SurfaceWise2 on 27 aircraft and its airport facilities in Texas. It will also permit the use of the disinfectant at two Total Orthopedics Sports and Spine facilities in the state.
