Johnson & Johnson faces class action over benzene-tainted sunscreens

Johnson & Johnson has been served a federal class action over benzene-contaminated sunscreens, with plaintiffs seeking to end the items’ sale and receive compensation for purchase costs and product-related injuries. In May, independent laboratory Valisure detected the carcinogen benzene tainting 78 sun-care goods, including 26 from Johnson & Johnson brands Neutrogena and Aveeno. The US FDA recommends against the solvent’s utilisation in drug production due to "unacceptable toxicity".
